CHAPTER FIFTY
ONE The Kings of Edom, Genesis 36:31 - 36:43.
THE FACTS!
These were the kings of Edom
before there were kings of Israel.
Bela the son of Beor reigned
in Edom in the city of Dinhabah.
Bela dies.
Jobab the son of Zerah of
Bozrah replaces Bela.
Jobab dies.
Husham from the land of
Temani replaces Jobab.
Husham dies.
Hadad the son of Bedad, who
smote Midian in the field of Moab, replaces Husham.
The name of Hadad's city is
Avith.
Hadad dies.
Samlah of Masrekah replaces
Hadad.
Samlah dies.
Saul of Rehoboth by the
river replaces Samlah.
Guess what? Saul dies!
Baal-hanan the son of Achbor
replaces Saul.
Baal-hanan dies.
Hadar replaces Baal-hanan.
Hadar's city was called Pau.
Hadar was married to
Mehetabel who was the daughter of Matred who was the daughter of Mezahab.
And then Esau came along and
had some Dukes and these are them: Duke Timnah, Duke Alvah, Duke Jetheth,
Duke Aholibamah, Duke Elah, Duke Pynchon, Duke Kenaz, Duke The Man, Duke
Mibzar, Duke Magdiel, and Duke Iram.
STUDY QUESTIONS! Question God and Religion!
Who killed Midian in the
field of Moab? Was it Hadad or his father Bedad? Does it matter since nobody
even knows who Midian even was? I think it should matter. It should be made
clear! Although, I've always found the most useful facts to be ambiguous
because then you can just believe whatever you want and nobody can prove you
wrong.
Why? WHY?!
Baal-hanan Baal-hanan Bo-aal-hanan
Banana Fana Fo Faal-hanan Fee Fi Mo Maal-hanan BAAL-HAAAAANAN!
Mehetabel Mehetabel Bo
Behetabel Banana Fana Fo Fehetabel Fee Fi Mo-ehetable MEHEEEEEETABLE!
What was the point of
listing the kings of Edom? Is it just historical significance? And I thought
Esau was Edom, as The Bible has pointed out on several occasions. So are the
kings of Edom really the kings of Seir but thought of as the kings of Edom
since Esau eventually moves into the place and turns it into Edom? Is Edom
even a place since Esau is Edom? Aren't the Edomites just the people who
came from Esau? So how can the kings of Edom exist before the Dukes of Esau?
Are these the kings who were reigning while Esau was living there and
raising his descendants to be Dukes? So when they were old enough, they took
over after Hadar? And why was the land suddenly thought of as Edom once Esau
moved in? Was it because he was so rich that he sponsored everything, like
the fields and the stadiums?
Was that last batch of
questions too long? Should I have broken it up a bit? It's not like I have
any more questions for this section!
FAITH vs SCIENCE
Kings
Science
A few ways exist to scientifically prove if a person
is a king or not. One way to know for sure if a person is a king is
to call him a wanker. If about four dozen well-armed men throw you
in a dungeon to rot, he's a king! Another way to tell for sure is if
the guy can pull a sword out of a rock. I wonder what that makes the
guy who put the sword in the rock? Wouldn't that be harder than
removing it? Another way to find out (scientifically) if someone is
a king is to give them a slight cut. If they bleed to death because
their blood has no ability to coagulate, they are a king! Or, um,
were a king! Science rules! |
Faith
To find out if someone is a King according to The
Bible, read The Bible. It will tell you if a guy was a king or not.
If you're wondering how the people in Biblical Times knew who was a
king or not, I'll tell you right now. God told them. If God didn't
tell you you were a king, then you were just marking time and
pretending to be a king until one of God's Chosen People stole all
of your stuff or killed you and all of your men or took your land or
stole your wells. Then you would die knowing that you were never
actually a king. And the guy who killed you or stole your stuff knew
he was a king because God already told him. |
The
Winner: SCIENCE!
Science wins because even
though Kings are relics of the past, modern science can still prove
who are the kings of today even if they don't wear crowns or have
titles. Because math is part of science and math counts up
everyone's money and whoever has the most money has all of the power
whether they deserve it or not. Although, really, violence is even
more powerful than money. So nowadays with all of the easy access to
modern weaponry, anybody can be king! |
HISTORICAL FACTS
Journalists are trained to
ask four questions: Who? What? Where? and Will I get sued for printing this?
The Name Game (or The Banana
Song) went to #3 on The Billboard Charts in 1965, proving that all music
sucked in 1965.
Pickle Boy's Obscure
Facts #4 of 1000: A lot of lives were lost because of Bilbo Baggins.
When you read the name 'Achbor'
in The Facts section, you thought I was going to make an "It's a
trap!" joke.
At some point, I'll probably
repeat a Historical Fact from another section because I only know so many
things. In historical fact, this historical fact might be a repeat itself!
ESSAY
ASSIGNMENT. Choose one.A.
What do you think about your favorit sport team's arena or stadium being
named after a corporate sponsor? Does it make you want to buy the sponsor's
product? B.
How many Dwarves does it take to steal a Dragon's Hoard? C.
Determine exactly how many lives were lost due to Bilbo Baggins. DRAWING
TIME! Draw the death
of one of the kings of Edom. I know The Bible doesn't say how they die. Use
your imagination! WHAT
DID CHRISTIAN LITERALISTS LEARN? This
half of Chapter Thirty Six is even more boring than the first half of
Chapter Thirty Six. |
